HOW TO CREATE SPACES IN YOUR GARDEN - 2nd edition
Do you want clear, manageable help to create the garden you’ve always dreamed of? A garden that reflects your personal style and gives you room to recharge. In this book Dorthe Kvist takes you by the hand and guides you through the process of how to create spaces in the garden so it becomes as cozy, enchanting and useful as you dream.
The joy of gardening has flourished for many years and the garden is now as important to us as our home — it should of course be just as lovely and reflect our personal style. We want to use the garden for everything. We want to eat and bathe out there, relax, do yoga, work, be together and grow our own food.
Hardback, 192 pages.
Size: 26 x 21 cm.
This book is about how you can create spaces in your garden so it becomes as cozy, enchanting and useful as you dream. It can be hard to decide how to lay out the garden, where the beds should go, and so on.
Dorthe Kvist takes you by the hand and gives advice so you can create your own wonderful garden with its own inviting experiences and mysteries. The book makes it easier to choose a garden style and layout and turns designing the garden with defined spaces into a lovely experience.
When I design gardens for people, one request that’s guaranteed to be on the list every single time is the wish to create cozy spaces in the garden. Spaces for dining, relaxing, meditation; spaces for exercise; places to hide away, to unwind and recharge. Spaces for vegetables, for your favourite flowers, or spaces to invite guests into. The wishes are many and the lists are long, but many find it difficult to get started. With this book you get plenty of good advice on how to approach it.
The garden is also a place where it’s possible to do a digital detox. It’s where we recharge and slow down and where we reconnect with nature. Maybe because many of us live in front of a screen and because our world is becoming more and more digitalised, we are slowly becoming more alienated from nature. We need the garden, nature and contact with the earth, and that’s why we want much more from our outdoor spaces.
Dorthe Kvist is a garden designer, blogger, TV host and a designer on TV2 "Årets dejligste have", "En have i gave", "Vores haver vores vej" and others. Garden expert on Go’morgen Danmark, writer and stylist for various magazines and newspapers, including "Kvistens Haveskole" in BT; a public speaker; and author of the books: "Bliv ven med din have" and "Byhaven – Kål, kartofler og kærlighed". She develops her own line of sustainable products for the urban gardener in collaboration with Nelson Garden.
Trained at the Danish Design School, now an independent garden designer and owner of Meltdesignstudio.
