A4 Print - Chili

Chilies liven up food and often bring a sweat to your brow. If you taste the fruits before they burn, you'll notice they don't all taste the same. There are notes of both sour and spicy flavours. Originally, it was Christopher Columbus who brought the chili to Europe under the name "Indian Pepper" as an exclusive commodity in the early 1500s.
Today chili is frequently used in cooking and the Danes have truly embraced the little hot fruit. Two thirds of the world's population eat the fruit daily and it is even the world's most widespread spice.

On this beautiful chili poster, Lene Tvedegaard, owner of Gartneri Toftegaard, has selected 38 exciting varieties.

If you want to learn more about the little fruit, cultivation, chili's beneficial effects and how heat is measured, you can do so in the book "THE LITTLE HOT GUIDE TO CHILI". You can also read about chili in cooking, storage, the history of chili and the different varieties in the book "THE TASTE OF CHILI".

The illustrations are carefully drawn by Anne Hviid Nicolaisen.
