Hjalte's Fight is the story of a Viking boy who can’t live up to his father Jarl Trygve’s expectations of courage and strength. Hjalte feels like a failure, but he finds help from his half-sister Kuska, a thrall girl, and together with her and her hawk, Lyngvinge, they have many exciting and dangerous adventures.

This book is steeped in the Viking Age, and at the back you’ll find recipes for Viking food as well as explanations of some of the items or phenomena that appear in the story. Runic alphabets are included too.
The book is aimed at younger children and is great for reading aloud.

Vikingedrengens saga 1 is the first volume in the series. It was written by children's author Charlotte Blay, who is known for her many books, including several historical ones. Charlotte Blay was inspired to write the book by the excavation of Harald Bluetooth's ring fortress near Køge, which she followed up close.
