How the day goes for Little Lise is counted among the earliest Danish picture books for children, but ironically it was first published in French as La Journeé de Mll. Lili (1862). The Danish illustrator Lorenz Frølich was then living in Paris, where he soon had great success as an illustrator. The first versions of Little Lise were in black and white, but in 1889 the publisher Ernst Bojesen commissioned Frølich to produce a completely new edition in color with text by Ernest vor der Reche. It is this edition that served as the basis for the card set.

The model for Lise was Lorenz Frølich's little daughter Edma, whose daily antics inspired him to the picture-story, which in book form consists of 21 scenes.

Lorenz Frølich (1820 - 1908) Danish painter, draftsman and graphic artist, was taught as a child by well-known Golden Age painters such as Martinus Rørbye, C. W. Eckersberg and Christen Købke. At age 20 he traveled to Germany and Italy and studied at art schools in München,Dresden and Rome. In 1851 he settled in Paris, got married and lived mostly in France for the next 22 years. His numerous illustrations for children's books led to the term “a children's book” simply being called un Froelich in French. After his wife's death he moved to Denmark and became a prolific supplier of illustrations for, for example, H.C. Andersen's Fairy Tales, Nordic Gods and popular histories of Denmark. Frølich also decorated several of the ceilings at Frederiksborg Castle in Hillerød.

The cards are printed at a European printer certified with the Swan ecolabel and are made from FSC-certified paper.
The envelopes are produced from eco-friendly eucalyptus paper.
