In this book Bo Egelund tells how he and his family have managed to combine working life, cozy togetherness and being almost self-sufficient.
A great source of inspiration if you're thinking of heading in that direction.

After reading the chapters on the vegetable garden and livestock, which are the core parts of the book, most readers should hopefully feel confident to get started themselves. Beskrivelse

"The Self-Sufficient Family" is a book about how a family near Svendborg "does it themselves" — growing their garden and keeping livestock so they are almost self-sufficient. Bo Egelund describes how they try to handle as many areas as possible: a large vegetable garden that supplies most of their vegetables year-round, livestock so they produce the majority of the meat they eat, their own electricity generation, ground-source heating, their own well and even making their own Christmas gifts.

"We don't have a romantic dream of becoming totally self-sufficient. That will never happen. But we've managed to combine a fairly normal working life with a high degree of self-production. That satisfies our ambitions and at the same time gives us many great experiences and happy togetherness. In this book I explain how we arrived at the routines we have, and share our good and bad experiences."

The book includes illustrations by Susanne Weitemeyer.
