Quince, cydonia oblonga, grows as a shrub or tree with a short trunk and a densely branched, broad and rounded crown. The tree's bark is dark brown and the shoots are covered with a gray-white fuzz. The quince's fruit is a pome, also covered in fine fuzz until ripening in September–October. When the fruits are ripe, they become smooth and take on a golden-yellow hue.
The plant flowers in late May and has flowers like the apple tree, which are white with pink veins.
Quince is an ideal bee plant, as both nectar and pollen are sought after by the buzzing little creatures.
