KRYDDERSNAPS - Deliciousness in bottles

Surprisingly many species in nature and the garden are suitable for really good spiced snaps — and there are various options in roots, leaves, stems, buds, catkins, flowers, seeds and fruits. At the same time you can use the snaps as an alternative herbarium, and every time you have a dram you remember where you picked it.

As a rule, the best flavor is found in well-developed, healthy plant parts without signs of disease, bite marks or other damage. For many species most of the aroma is in leaves, flowers and fruits that have been well exposed to sunlight.

In this little white book about spiced snaps, written by Peter Friis Møller, a selection of good plants from nature and the garden has been chosen. The focus is on a varied selection of useful, fairly common species from Denmark, where individual plants and populations can easily withstand being harvested and used for this noble purpose — and that make it possible to forage and flavor through most of the year.

Susanne Weitemeyer has drawn the beautiful illustrations.
