Yellow iris, Iris pseudocorus, is a perennial wetland plant that grows by clayey and muddy lakes, streams and ponds, where the soil is moist and where there is full sun to partial shade.
The plant is easy to recognize by its large three-part yellow petals and rush-like, sword-shaped gray-green leaves, which sit tightly embedded on the sturdy, upright and sparsely branched stem. The flower bud is cigar-shaped with clearly rolled-up petals.
The plant typically grows between 60 and 120 cm tall.
Yellow iris blooms in June–July, when it bears beautiful yellow flowers.
