Hjalte and King Harald Bluetooth - A Viking Story - SALE

Exciting and self-contained tale of Hjalte's struggle - Book 2 in the series

In this book Hjalte travels with Harald Bluetooth to Jelling, where he gets the chance to use his hammer and chisel on the famous Jelling Stone.

The friends — the earl's son Hjalte, the thrall girl Kuska and the Wend captive Rurik — hide in a clearing behind the bushes out by the cliff. They are hungry, for they haven’t had food for several days. The fire in their camp crackles and a delicious smell rises from the partridge they have just caught. The wolf is howling in the forest. They usually only hear it at night — not during the day like now. Maybe it’s hungry too? Hjalte clenches his fists and Rurik pulls his axe from his belt while Kuska gently strokes her falcon Lynvinge over its feathers. Will the wolf come towards them?

At the back of the book you can find recipes for Viking food as well as explanations of several Viking terms.
The book is aimed at younger children and is great for reading aloud.

Hjalte and King Harald Bluetooth is the second volume in the series. It was written by children's author Charlotte Blay, who is known for her many books, including several historical ones. Charlotte Blay was inspired to write the book by the excavation of Harald Bluetooth's ring fortress near Køge, which she followed closely.
