MY LITTLE CITY GARDEN

Garden art and visual art go hand in hand

It's not the size that matters. Even in a small city garden, like the one multidisciplinary artist Nina Ferlov owns in the heart of old Middelfart, there's plenty to tell. It's about the way you look, and seen through Nina Ferlov's eyes the senses open up to the familiar.

Nina Ferlov is often called the master of watercolor. You'll understand why when you hold this beautiful book — a love letter to the plants in the artist's own garden and a tribute to the changing seasons.

With her rare sense for detail and color composition, Nina Ferlov has portrayed the plants in her small city garden one by one through a calendar year. She has a personal relationship with each of them and knows how they found their way to Søndergade 8. The porcelain plant, for example, which she didn't really like... "but when a friend gave me a porcelain plant, it had to have a place in the garden. My opinion changed when it began to bloom, and I wanted to paint it," she says in the book.

Nina Ferlov is also a textile printer, textile designer and visual artist.
