Denmark is home to around 35,000 different species of insects and other small creatures. In this little book, zoologist Lars Thomas introduces a wide selection of the species you find in the Danish nature, spiced with entertaining stories from the world of small animals.
In the book, part of the series of small white nature books, Lars Thomas compares the world of insects to life on the African savannah or in tropical jungles. He enthusiastically tells of lightning-fast predatory beetles that chase their prey with the speed and ferocity of hungry lions; of dragonflies that catch their prey in flight with an ease and maneuverability that would make a fighter pilot green with envy; and of parasitic wasps that sneak up on their hosts and leave them a fate worthy of a horror movie.
Lars Thomas (b. 1960) is a zoologist, blogger and author of more than 50 nature books. He calls himself ”superkratlusker” and, together with Linda Kjær -Thomsen, runs the Facebook group Team 10k — a name that reflects that they have recorded 10,000 wild species.
