Insects - and other small animals (danish text)

Denmark is home to around 35,000 different species of insects and other small animals. In this small book, zoologist Lars Thomas introduces a wide selection of the species found in the Danish nature, seasoned with good stories from the world of small animals.

In the book, which is part of the series of small white nature books, Lars Thomas compares the world of insects with life on the African savannas or in the tropical jungles. He talks excitedly about lightning-fast predatory beetles that go after their prey with the same speed and ferocity as hungry lions. About dragonflies that catch their prey in flight with an ease and maneuverability that should make a fighter pilot green with envy. And about parasitic wasps that sneak up on their prey and leave them to a fate worthy of a horror movie.

Lars Thomas (b. 1960) is a zoologist, blogger and author of more than 50 nature books. He describes himself as a "super scrubber" and together with Linda Kjær-Thomsen manages the Facebook group Team 9k, a name that covers the fact that they have registered 9000 wild species.
