RENASSANCE GARDEN - Square card folder

Square card folder with Renaissance motifs illustrated by German-born Basilius Besler, experienced botanist and pharmacist.  

The typical Renaissance garden is constructed in symmetrical squares surrounded by low fence or boxwood. In each field there is a wealth of different flowers, of which tulips are an important part.

The cards measure 15x15 cm. The card folder itself is printed on matte paper with gold print.

The card folder contains 8 double cards with matching envelopes.

The Renaissance garden originates from Italy and France and eventually came to the Nordic countries in the mid-17th century. The motifs in this briefcase are copper engraving by Basil Besler for the book Hortus Eystettensis 1613 and the sign in the bishop of the Bavarian garden. Botanical art was changed forever, as Besler completed the work after 16 years of work.
