Edible Wild Fruits — 2nd edition

Nature's great larder offers herbs, mushrooms, fruit and berries. In the past, it was vital to know and gather the plants and fruits found in the wild. Today it's the pleasure and the taste that lead most people to search for them. Plants have their preferred habitats. Some grow in the acidic heath soil, others in the sandy soil by the beach, while others appreciate a good, nutrient-rich soil. Under the descriptions of the individual species you'll find where the plants are usually found. No matter where in the country you are, there will always be fruit to hunt for.

The author, Bente Halkjær, writes about 23 different wild fruits that can be collected and used. The book also includes tasty recipes such as hazelnut cream, hawthorn jelly and acorn cookies.

Kirsten Tind is responsible for the beautiful, precise drawings, and Kira Brandt provided the lovely food photos.
