Beskrivelse
Valerian, Valeriana officinalis, is a perennial, medium-tall herb that grows in meadows, along streams and in forests with moist to waterlogged soil. The plant's stem is smooth, unbranched and grooved. The leaves are stalkless at the top and stalked lower down; the upper surface is dark green while the underside is light green.
Valerian blooms in July–August, when the terminal clusters together form white, semi-umbel-like flower heads.
Today valerian is an approved herbal medicine for restlessness and sleep problems.
