Mother of the Sea is the one who gives us all the animals and one of the most well-known legends from the Arctic. The animals flow out of her large, beautiful, black hair. The legend tells that when there were periods with a shortage of game, shamans would set off on a spiritual journey down to the seabed and to the mother to comb out her tangled hair. When this was done the animals could once again be freed and sent out to the sea, the land and the people.
