CHRISTIAN IV'S CROWN - Poster A2
Taking Christian IV's magnificent Renaissance crown from 1596 into view, it is almost impossible to understand how this masterpiece could for centuries live an almost hidden existence in a wall cabinet in the Regal Chamber of Rosenborg Castle. It was not until 1915 that the crown came to the attention of the general public. For the first time in 300 years, you had the opportunity to experience the distinguished crown. The audience could now gain insight into the myriad of symbols and references on the sides of the crown, each telling of selected virtues and commendable qualities, such as just 19-year-old Christian 4. must have meant to possess at the coronation.
The motif is photographed for the book royal treasures and crown jewels.
