Asparagus, Aspargus officinalis, is a perennial herb that grows in sandy and calcareous soil. The asparagus plant separates itself from other wild Danish species due to the horizontal rhizome and strongly branched air shoots, which can stay close to 2 meters. The air pads form a feather-shaped top with brush-shaped branches.
The flowers of the plant are green-yellow. The fruit is a red-yellow berry.
