Artichoke, Cyana scolymus, is a perennial, timely, powerful perennial. The artichoke is easy to know on its huge leaves, which grows scattered along the thick stem. The leaves have dark green upper and gray-green underside with thorns along the leaf edge. It is an upright plant with tubular blue-violet single flowers.
The artichoke grows best in well-drained soil with drought and plenty of sun. The plant typically becomes 1 meter in diameter and about 1.5 meters high.
The plant can only winter under protected conditions in Denmark.
