Almond, Prunus dulcis, is a deciduous tree with a round crown of flimsy branches. The wood's leaves are elliptical with a long tip and a serrated blade edge. The almond tree flowers are rosy colored and between 2.5 and 5 cm in diameter. The flowers sit individually or two and two together on short stems.
The fruit of the almond tree is a stone fruit with leathery meat, which is covered with a green-yellow skin, which on the sun side changes color to red.
The almond tree blooms in March-April.
